Château Le Bon Pasteur 2013
(special label edition)

This is a rare edition label that was created to commemorate two historical facts of this particular vintage. A collector, I should say, as only a limited quantity of bottles, of the 2013 vintage, has been dressed with this particular label.

First, the celebration of Akeed Mofeed, (the racehorse on the label), winning both the BMW Hong Kong and the Longines Hong Kong Cup, in 2013.
It was a very exciting horse racing year for Mr. Pan Sutong, the owner, who just bought this horse the previous year.

Second, 2013 was also the year when Mr. Pan Sutong bought Château Le Bon Pasteur, Michel Rolland's family estate in Pomerol. The original team was kept and Michel Rolland continues to this day, as the main consultant œnologue / winemaker, to keep a close eye on what was once his family's wine, and to contribute to the ever-growing quality and success of this estate's wines.

Kudos to #benoitprevot and @brice_sun_33 and @bdldmhk, and the rest of the team, for their incredible work and devotion to making what Château Le Bon Pasteur has become and is today.

I had a bottle (that was given to me) and popped it last night, and to my surprise, (as 2013 was not a great vintage overall in Pomerol and Bordeaux in general), it was delightful. Very enjoyable with this pâté as a starter.

Dark, inky color. Medium to full-bodied, offering plenty of dark fruit and earthy notes. Supple attack expanding generously in the balanced mid-palate until the end. Fairly long finish. This wine has a solid grip, intense mouthfeel with inky tones, and firm, yet integrated tannins. It is both structured and textured, ample, and fairly well balanced too. Time has had a beneficial impact on this wine, and, in my opinion, deserves more than the ratings tell. Loved it.

The last few vintages of Château Le Bon Pasteur I have tested (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) were all stunning wines. Definitely, a Pomerol wine to keep an eye on.

Cheers! Santé!
