LeDomduVin: Karaoke Night!

Karaoke night!

I titled this post "Karaoke Night" as I served these wines during a private dinner where the host and the guests sang Karaoke songs between each dish, from videos displaying lyrics on 3 big screens on the surrounding walls. It was a relaxed and casual night. A Karaoke Night!

Philipponnat Clos des Goisses Extra-Brut 2012

Beyond its pale golden color and attractive aromas of yellow fruits, stone fruits, and toasted brioche, it is rich, dense, intense, complex, ample, and layered, with an excellent balance and a long, satisfying finish. What a beautiful Champagne!

Bernard Bonin Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2019

Pale goldenish color. It boasts aromas of lemon zest, apple, and stone fruits mingling with chamomile, gingerbread, buttery toasted oak, and mineral notes. Medium-bodied, Fresh, zesty, complex, and elegant, with excellent structure and good tension on the palate. Focus from the attack to the long and crisp finish. Love it.

Palmer Margaux 2016

A blend of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot, Palmer 2016 is a great combination of power, richness, complexity, freshness, balance, and elegance. Deep, inky color in the glass. The nose displays fresh, fragrant, concentrated blackberries, earth, and flower aromas. Beyond its fresh and juicy attack, the palate expands and gains in density, intensity, richness, and complexity, balanced by excellent acidity and framed with present, chewy, yet integrated tannins. The finish is youthful and very long, demonstrating aging potential. Although probably too young, Palmer 2016 is incredibly approachable and drinkable now. A sophisticated and classy wine.

Bernard Dugat-Py Charmes Chambertin 1996

This bottle was a gift to the host from one of the guests, and although I was very tempted to open it, I did not, so I can't tell you about it. Next time, maybe.😊👍🍷

Cheers! Santé!

LeDomduVin: 3 to Tango!

3 to Tango!

Another night with some excellent wines.

Juyondai Harima Yamada Nishiki Junmai Daiginjo (Nakadori)

Made from Harima Yamada Nishiki rice, Nakadori sake is considered the finest of the batch for its clarity, expressive aromas, well-balanced structure, purity of flavor, smooth texture, and versatility. One of Juyondai’s premium, it boasts fresh aromas of lychee, white peach, and hints of green melon. Medium to full-bodied, but not heavy or too rich, the palate is complex and layered. It offers an elegant, soft, velvety texture with fruity flavors, making it an ideal aperitif or a perfect companion to seafood like sashimi. Beautifully crafted. Loved it.

Dugat-Py Moyzeres Chambertin Grand Cru 2018

Beyond its clear, bright, hypnotizing crimson color, the Dugat-Py Moyzeres Chambertin 2018 reveals attractive, freshly crushed red cherries and berries mixed with earthy, spicy, and floral notes on the nose. The palate combines freshness, elegance, refinement, balance, and length with sexiness, richness, complexity, and juiciness. The mid-palate is luxurious and concentrated, with integrated tannins, remarkable acidity, and a long-lasting aftertaste. It is a perfect blend of grace and equilibrium, showcasing the extraordinary quality of the 2018 vintage. Although open and easy to drink now, it will undoubtedly benefit from a few years of cellaring. Delightful wine! Loved it.

Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 2005

La Mission Haut-Brion 2005 is a stunning wine! The opening displays enticing blackberry, cedar, and tobacco aromas, mingling with earthy notes and menthol nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is refined, elegant, ample, supple, generous, and incredibly well-balanced between the ripeness of the fruit, the refreshing acidity, and the fine tannins, providing respectively juiciness, freshness, elegance, complexity, texture, and structure to this splendid example of this great vintage. Loved it.

Cheers! Santé!

LeDomduVin: What a treat!

What a treat!

Opened tonight for a private dinner. These 3 bottles were magnificent!

Jacques Selosse V.O. Version Originale Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra-Brut NV (dégorgé November 2019)

Very subtle, pale golden colour. Fine mousse. The nose is young, delicate, refined, discreet, and elegant, offering light and fresh aromas of golden apple and pear, with mineral and floral nuances, a touch of ginger and lightly toasted, buttery notes. The palate seems slightly older than the nose would suggest, with light tertiary flavours. And yet, so polished and sophisticated, with great balance and texture, structure and style, with great acidity,  richness, complexity, and length. The expression "well-mannered" and "well-behaved" come to mind, as well as racy and courteous. Looooooooooove it.

Marc Colin Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2018

Attractive pale yellow colour. The nose at first was a bit shy, and the wine was too cold. I left it out of the ice for it to warm up, and it opened up like a blooming flower. I did not decant it, but I should have. After 3 hours of being opened, it was amazing.  And I told my colleagues, if you don't like this Bâtard-Montrachet, then you may never really know what a great white Burgundy is, and you may never appreciate real Chardonnay. This wine has everything you hope to find in Bâtard-Montrachet. Great nose, refreshing and inviting, displaying white and yellow fruit, lemon zest, stony minerality, and light buttery notes. The palate is complex, generous, ample, rich, nicely expanding, textured, layered, well-balanced, harmonious, focused, and so long. Stunning!

Dugat-Py Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018

This was the cherry on the cake. Already at the opening, great aromas of ripe red and dark cherries mingling with floral and mineral notes perfumed the room's atmosphere. At first, it tasted great, light, fresh, and acidic, almost too young to be opened. It gradually opened up and only started to reveal itself about 4 hours later. It was captivating and intriguing, with ripe, almost jammy red and dark fruits with light oaky, earthy, peppery, spicy notes. The palate was gorgeous.

Cheers! Santé!

LeDomduVin: Mise en place...

Mise en place

I have been buying a lot of Burgundy lately, for various dinners. And, although I am a Bordeaux native, I'm a traitor to my region, as I think that I buy and drink more Burgundy than Bordeaux.
😅😁👍🍷🍷🍷

Here is a little selection that I will use for up and coming dinners:

Dugat-Py Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru 2016

Robert Groffier Père et fils Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Amoureusrs" 2018
