LeDomduVin: Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2013

Louis Roederer Brut Vintage 2013

Beautiful, light, and crisp, with enticing zesty, white fruits, floral, and mineral notes. Great balance. Refreshing acidity. Long seamless finish. Sophisticated yet friendly, approachable, and extremely easy to drink. Like a ballerina gracefully dancing on your tong. What a delightful champagne!

Compared to the 2012 vintage, which was richer, denser, and more layered, 2013 is surprisingly refreshing, bright, light, and so satisfying. Loooove it.

And they say, "Bigger is better", well, it is definitely true when it comes to Champagne. In my experience, magnum size usually tastes better and fresher than a regular bottle, which is definitely the case for this one. Get it in magnum if you can, as one bottle won't be enough.

Cheers! Santé!

Dom

LeDomduVin: Smoking Champagne

Smoking Champagne

I opened this bottle today to welcome some guests for the aperitif, and it was stunning.

Attractive golden color. Toasted brioche, stone fruits, and yellow fruit, with nutty and mineral nuances. Rich, layered, complex, long, and beautifully balanced with a refreshing acidity keeping it sharp and elegant, while generously coating the palate from the beginning to the lingering finish. Really satisfying and definitely calling for another glass. Loooove it.

For a Churchill, it was smoking!!!

NB: These were not my guests, of course, I wish, but no, I was working, yes, even on Sundays. And, btw. a friendly reminder for the people who continue to believe that all these beautiful ladies (that I open on nearly a daily basis) are mine and that I open them for my own personal consumption, well, sorry to say, but they are not. I’m just a Sommelier opening bottles for some wealthy people. The good thing is that, at least, I get to buy them, taste them and serve them.😁👍🍷

Santé! Cheers!

Dom

LeDomduVin: Dom Perignon 2012

Dom Perignon 2012

"What a gorgeous champagne!" was the first thing that came to my mind.

Right after popping the cork, incentive yeasty scents of brioche mingling with apple, peach, nuts, and lemon zest were already emanating from the bottle. They became even richer, more aromatic, while I was pouring it. Boasting a bright pale golden color chiseled by fine lines of small and fast bubbles. Aromas evolved with floral and mineral nuances entangled with nutty, peachy, and limey notes. The palate is rich and concentrated, flavorful and layered, yet harmonious, balanced, and lifted by great acidity, bringing focus and freshness throughout the expanding palate, leading to a long, persistent, and generous finish. Although extremely comfortable and enjoyable now, DP 2012 has tremendous potential to age and evolve for a few more decades to come.
